Katherine for the Kure

Originally from Long Island, NY, Katherine Hallissy graduated from Wellesley College in May of 2000 and has been working in Cambridge, MA as a technology consultant at Exeter Group since September. Katherine started running in high school, where she trained with the mid-distance runners and specialized in the 800-meters (or half-mile). Although she has enjoyed recreational running ever since, Katherine has never attempted an endurance event before! She is grateful to have the support of the Team in Training program, the motivation of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's inspirational cause, and the companionship of friend Sissi Liu with her as she tackles the race of her life.

A Girl Called "SI"

Ok, so who is the other crazy girl? Sissi Liu, AKA "SI" or "The Sissinater", is an enthusiastic idealist and a capricious individual who has a tendency to over-commit. These elements of her personality are what landed her on this tremendous project. As an idealist, Sissi is easily moved by ideas of helping others. When her Wellesley friend, Katherine, mentioned running a marathon to fundraise for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Sissi did not pitch in dollars to help out Katherine's cause. Instead, she JUMPED in to join the effort herself. Sissi has never been an athlete but has always wanted to challenge herself to an endurance test in the form of a marathon. Now, here she is, training to run 26.2 miles! Since she is a capricious over-committer, Sissi has a tendency to give up on such taxing physical trainings. Can she survive the 4 months of intense training? Can she cross the finish line?

Sissi Liu graduated from Wellesley College, worked as an Investment Banker, and is currently a Product Manager at NaviSite, Inc, a managed hosting services company. She claims to have met more people at the company through this project than she did in the last 6 months. She has also come in contact with more people with leukemia or other blood related cancers through this fundraising effort than she had ever met in the past 20 some years. Sissi is thankful for having great health and wants you to help her accomplish her fundraising and training goals by contributing to a cause that could save 9-year-old Christian Sanchez.
