Now seven years old, WAAM has accomplished many of its early objectives
set in 2007. WAAM has launched several websites for non-profit
organizations; exhibited multimedia projects at the large biennial
Boston Cyberarts Festival 2001; and hosted several coffeeshop
discussions, creative workshops and guest presentations. Listed
below are the highlights of WAAM's years 2000 - 2007:

July 18, 2004 —WAAM hosts a dinner discussion on
"Organizational Development in Hi-Tech Startups" at WAAM Founder Janet's apartment in Somerville,
MA. . WAAM guest speaker Mark Herschberg (M.S. & B.S., MIT)
presents issues pertaining to starting a hi-tech business, choosing
co-founders and building, managing and evolving project team dynamics.

October 26, 2003 —
At WAAM's dinner discussion on "Sound Design for a Sound
Design: Are We on the Same Wavelength?", WAAM guest speakers
and sound designers Patricia Diaz (Wellesley '02 and student at
the MIT Media Lab) and Edgar Gresores discussed issues and case
studies related to conceptualizing and articulating sound design
in a myriad of industries from advertising, multimedia cd edutainment
to collaborative online community. Featuring live demos of projects
and sound design equipment. Dinner hosted at the WAAM Founder Janet's
apartment in Somerville, MA.
March 2, 2003 — WAAM
hosts dinner discussion on "Building Effective Online Communities:
Case Studies on Interactive Games and Forging Key Business Partnerships"
at the India Castle Restaurant in Cambridge, MA. WAAM guest
speaker Jon Monsarrat, an MIT alum and former CEO and Founder of
Turbine Entertainment Software explored issues pertaining to founding,
developing and marketing online communities that can attract key
business partnerships with big companies and be leveraged into a
successful revenue model. He also discussed techniques on developing
an effective online community and attracting and retaining community
members
April 28, 2002 — At
WAAM's dinner discussion on "Designs that Matter: Fostering Entrepreneurship
in Developing Nations", WAAM guest speakers Joost Bonsen and
Saul Griffith, MIT Sloan/Media Lab graduate students engaged in
international development efforts discussed issues and case studies
related to founding, designing, financing and building entrepreneural
ventures in developing nations and emerging regions. Dinner hosted
at the India Castle Restaurant in Cambridge, MA.
January 3 , 2002 —
Guest expert Kenneth Owen Stanley (Ph.D.,Computer Science) presents
at WAAM's dinner discussion on "Evolutionary Artificial Intelligence:
Can Artificial Brains and Minds be Evolved?" Ken explored issues
on how artificial intelligence is being programmed to evolve and
discusses the applications of evolutionary artificial intelligence
today and what may be in store for the future at the India Castle
Restaurant in Cambridge, MA.
November 11, 2001 —
WAAM organizes a dinner discussion
"Working for Yourself: Freelancing & Entrepreneurship" at India
Castle Restaurant in Cambridge, MA from 6-9:30 pm. WAAM guest
speakers CLODINE MALLINCKRODT (Wellesley '90) a freelance
web, multimedia and digital video producer/project manager, and
JAMES YOUNG a freelance designer and principal of JY Design,
discussed issues such as how to find clients, market your services,
how to price your work and balance multiple projects.
July 22, 2001 — WAAM
hosted a dinner discussion on
"Definition, Implications and Applications of Multimedia" at
the Bombay Club in Harvard Square. Guest speakers were Multimedia
Arts Professor Naomi Ribner and Computer Science Professor Takis
Metaxas.
June 3, 2001 — WAAM
led coffee shop round-table discussion on "Inspiration and Making
Time for Creativity" at Harvard SquareĠs Algier's Cafe.
May 6, 2001 —
Biennial Boston Cyberarts Festival 2001: WAAM exhibited creative
projects at the Boston Tremont Gallery. Participants included:
Clodine Mallindrodt, Grace K. Song, Benjamin J. Walter,
Janet Si-Ming Lee, Sonali Manseta, Sheila Vyas and Kara Blanchard.
March 2001 —
WAAM launched a collaborative project website to facilitate fundraising
efforts for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and to keep
patrons updated on the training progress of the TNT runners in the
San Diego Rock n' Roll fundraising marathon. Project collaboration
by Sissi Liu, Katherine Hallissey, Janet Si-Ming Lee, Leah Krauss
and Alex Chou.
February 10, 2001 —
The non-profit organization Chinese Culture Connection invited
WAAM to its Chinese New Year Festival at the Beebee Elementary
School in Malden. WAAM exhibited artwork to an estimated 300-500
attendees from the local community. Artists showcasing work included
digital fine artist Janet Si-Ming Lee and printmaker Jessica Ficken.
January 31, 2001 —
WAAM's first collaborative web project for non-profit Boston theatre
company Company One launched! Project collaboration by Janet
Si-Ming Lee, Alex Chou and Albert Ng.
December 2000 —
WAAM organized a "Paper Prayers" creative workshop to fundraise
for the Boston Pediatric AIDS Project and research. WAAMers' "Paper
Prayers" were exhibited at Newbury Street's Yezerski Gallery
and at the Wellesley College Jewetts Arts Center.
August 2000 —
Wellesley College alumna Janet Si-Ming Lee '98, principal web and graphic designer at Siming Cybercreative, founded
WAAM. WAAM was officially established as a subclub of WCAB
(Wellesley College Alumnae of Boston).
