CS110 TO DO LIST

This is a checklist of all the things you need to do in the first two weeks of CS110. Some things should be done right away, others can take longer.

Right Away

  1. Read all the notes for the first day's lecture, including the descriptions of the project, homeworks, course policy and the like, so you'll know how the class works.
  2. Fill out the form to request a computer account for CS110. You will need this for the first lab, so do this ASAP. The form is linked from the first day's lecture notes.
  3. Choose a lab section and register for it. This course has two lecture meetings each week and one lab meeting. You have to register for the lab separately from the lecture.
  4. Go to lab. We'll start building web pages from the very first day, so even if your schedule is hectic and your first-choice of lab section is too crowded, go anyway.
  5. Put the CS110 First Class course conference on your First Class desktop. Also, put the CS110-Announcements sub-conference on your desktop, so that you'll see the red flags. When you see a red flag in that conference, read it right away. You'd hate to miss an announcement about change in drop-in hours or an assignment modification or something like that. It's a low-traffic conference.

Also, just as we learn from one another's questions in class, we can learn from one another's questions online, so read the Q&A conference, too, as often as you can.

Soon

  1. Send your professor a self-introduction note, because we'd like to get to know you. You can use First Class, or you can use the form that is linked from the first day's lecture notes.
  2. Find a partner for the course term project
  3. Find a client for the course term project. (You can find your client and partner in either order.)
