Part II: How to Change Color of an Existing Image

  1. Select an image to change and save it on your desktop.
  2. Open a new Fireworks document, and Import your image.
  3. Use the View menu to Zoom In as many times as you need to until you can clearly see the area where you would like to change color.
  4. Select the Polygon Lasso Tool from the Tool bar
  5. Click around the area that you want to change color. In this example, we are changing the bucket's color. Here you can see the selected area marked with a dotted line.
  6. To change color, select Filters > Adjust Color > Hue/Saturation
  7. and you will see this box:

    For a dark red, I chose Hue 142, Saturation 37 and Lightness -4
  8. Save your file (in PNG format, for future editing) and export it (in GIF or JPEG format) for use in the web.
