Robotic Art Exhibit
Maddie Adams - Class of 2012
Once upon a time, there was a college that allowed stdents to play with LEGOs for credit. Of course, this is why we matriculated in the first place. For our final project, we created a robotic gallery of famous paintings, each of which reacts in a different way when someone passes in front of it. Each of the paintings is triggered by a break-beam sensor. Our first idea was to use prints of the actual paintings and make them slightly silly. Then, we discovered the best thing in the history of time: LEGO Art. Clearly this was vastly superior. Notice that the frames are made of LEGO also. We printed the paintings on canvas paper meant for home printers to give them a richer, more authentically "artistic" feel. A feel that is totally negated by the fact that they display LEGOs. Click on each painting for more information about the individual mechanisms. Click here for more information about us.
