Girl With A Pearl Earring

Each time a guest passes in front of her, her earring twinkles. We found the picture here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/udronotto/2378933951/ . Like all the others, this painting is activated by a break-beam sensor. This was blissfully easy to execute compared with the other robots. We simply put a small hole in the canvas and taped a PicoCricket light to the back, like this:

The code for this was similar to the code for the Van Gogh painting or the Mona Lisa painting, but it was much simpler because the actuator involved was a light, not a motor. I like to call this the Girl with the Perl Code. Even though the language is PicoBlocks, not Perl.
