THE WELLESLEY CUCKOO CLOCK

The Symbolism

What is it?

It's a fun clock! A cuckoo clock!! You've seen them in movies - the clock strikes an hour and a little birdie pops out of a set of doors. Our first idea (which didn't quite work out) was to make a hatching egg. We really love birds, so we wanted to keep that part of the idea.

Why is it the Wellesley Cuckoo Clock?

The concept dates back to the beginning of our senior year, when we realized that if our four years at Wellesley were minutes on a clock, we'd only have 15 left. Eek! Time flies, doesn't it? So our clock goes especially fast - which also lets you watch our little birdies pop out, without making you wait a half an hour between each show.

To see what time it is really, as opposed to our hyper sped-up time:

What's with the owl?

Billy Joe Bob, the little rodeo owl that serves as the centerpiece of our artwork, has great meaning to us. He embodies both the wisdom we have acquired from our three and a half years as Wellesley students, and the looniness that accompanies it.

How did you do it?!
