Ethics

It's not my goal to set your moral compass; I'm sure your parents and family have done an excellent job already. But technology increasingly dominates our lives, and we in the technical fields have an obligation to be aware of the encroachment on our privacy and liberties, and, when we feel our rights and values threated by commerce or government, we ought to act: either to push back internally, or to support legislation that will make a difference.

Discussion Protocol¶

1. Choose a "leader" whose job is to make sure everyone gets a chance to speak. Earliest name in the alphabet is a reasonable criterion if no one steps up.
2. Choose a "recorder" whose job is to take a few notes to share with the class afterward. Last name in the alphabet if no one steps up.
