Guidelines
- If we keep to less than 10 minutes each (aim for 8 minutes), we'll be done by 5:00.
- Anyone after number 7 on the list might have to present
after 4:00, so let me know asap if that will be a problem.
- Plan to do the following:
- Give a quick demo of the site's features, about 5 minutes
- Talk about any interesting features that are outside the lecture
material, e.g. different libraries you used, APIs, other online
databases and such. JavaScript fanciness, or whatever.
Preparation
So that the talks all go smoothly, please do the following:
- Send me the link to your main page, so that you can just click the link above to get started.
- Make sure you test your demo after making any changes. Have a version you're not changing.
- Put a working username/password in place, so that you're not locked out of the demo.
- In the long run, you'll want people to be able to be able to try
your site without your being there, so maybe create a "demo" version
with the username/password and other key information written on the
home page. You can protect this from people off-campus using
a
.htaccess
file. (Just copy
this .htaccess file).
- Consider creating a screen capture that you can just "play," say
using http://www.screencast-o-matic.com
