Personal Goals and Self-Evaluation

As mentioned in the course description/syllabus page goal-setting and self-evaluation form a part of your grade for CS 341,

Stage 1: Setting Goals

Write down at least 3 growth goals for yourself in CS 341, plus a brief description of how you will identify success at this goal. Be ambitious but realistic: set goals that are achievable, but will require you to engage intentionally in the course. Keep in mind that you will be asked at the end of the term to assess your progress toward these goals.

Write this goal summary as a Google Doc and share with the instructor (bwood5) preferably by the end of Tuesday, 3 November and no later than Friday, 6 November.

Stage 2: Reflection and Self-Evaluation

The reflection and self-evaluation determine 5% of your course grade as marked below.

At the end of your Goals document, add a Reflection and Self-Evaluation section in which you write 1-2 paragraphs in total (or some bullet points, or your preferred format)

  • 3%: For each of your goals, what progress did you make toward the goal this term? Where do you want to go next relative this goal? Reflect honestly. “Completely achieved” is not the “right answer” to this question unless it really happened. You will not be graded on achieving the goals or on guessing my own assessment of your progress. If you reflect, you will receive credit for this part.
  • 2%: Overall, which components of your course work best reflected your strengths or achievements in the course? The components you identify will collectively count for this additional 2% of your course grade (in addition to the standard fraction in the course grade derivation).
