- Our Method
Joy - In order to get our survey out I posted an instagram story prompting users who saw it to click into my Instagram page to find the link in the bio. While it would have been easier to add a swipe up feature, I didn’t realize that the features is only available to people with more than 10,000 followers. Along with putting it on Instagram, I asked a lot of my friends from high school, since I know a lot of them use Instagram a lot, and I also asked some of my friends my age who are attending college in different parts of the world.Sarah - I posted the survey on my Instagram survey and also put the link in my bio. I asked my friends and family to take the survey, though several Instagram users age 40+ did not know what “link in bio” meant and could not figure out how to take the survey. I chose to post on my Instagram story rather than Facebook or email, because it is a platform that appears immediately on users’ feed and is easy to access. Our group discussed that it would be more relevant for our project to poll information from an audience of highschool, college, and post-grad individuals, which is a demographic that is typically most active on Instagram than on any other social media platform.
Maita - I posted it on my Instagram story and put the link in my bio. I personally messaged and talked to my college friends, family members (sister, parents), and close high school friends who live/study outside of the U.S. if they could take the quiz and also if they were comfortable passing on the link to people they know.
