Ready to learn more about online banking?

You’ve found yourself on our CS 115 project page about online banking!
This site was created by Courtney, Mackenzie, and Jina, for the purpose of establishing an accessible, centralized place where people can come to learn more about online banking.

Our project was first conceived with the purpose of addressing cryptocurrency, “a digital asset designed to work as a medium of exchange that uses strong cryptography to secure financial transactions, control the creation of additional units, and verify the transfer of assets” (Wikipedia).
We quickly reached a number of issues with this topic, if we were supposed to survey the public on our issue, a topic that the vast public is unacquainted with is not something with which we could accurately gauge the public’s opinions and preferences on. Thus, we narrowed our project down to the concept of online banking.

Online banking has boomed in recent years—PayPal used to be the main source for online banking, but now there has been a rise in the use of Venmo, Zelle, and other digital services. With the spike in usage of online banking, we wanted to learn more about online banking today.

Building upon our survey results, and preexisting research about online banking from the American Bankers Association we have learned that:

• Young adults are the most likely to use only banking services.
• The preference for specific online banking services varies by age.
• Gen Z prefers Venmo.
• Boomers prefer mobile banking apps.
• People are weary to trust online banking services with their privacy and security.
