Our company's history is closely linked to that of the region in which it is located, an industrial area renowned throughout the world for its production of footwear at a high technological level. Ever since the 13th century, the Montebelluna area of Italy has been an important meeting place and crossroads for commercial dealings among Alpine settlements, the Venetian plains and Venice itself. This privileged location has contributed immeasurably to the development of a shoemaking tradition which has always been synonymous with innovation, functional efficiency, high performance, and superior quality. Stonefly thus bears active witness to a lengthy and celebrated tradition destined to continue well beyond the threshold of the new millennium.
Stonefly has blended wide-ranging innovative capabilities, experience, and tradition. From its earliest days, the company has had as its goal the design and production of footwear for both urban and leisure use, footwear made to guarantee perfect comfort. In just a short time, Stonefly has become a leader in comfort wear for Italy and one of the most important companies of its kind at the international level.
Our intense and dedicated technological research, combined with an organization that is both dynamic and flexible, has permitted Stonefly to meet market needs in a precise and timely manner, thus rocketing the company into a strong leadership position in its sector. Our products are marketed in Italy through a network of personal representatives, while marketing abroad is entrusted to local agent networks selected to serve each country in the ways best suited to its individual situation. The company's decidedly avant-guard organization is widespread. Stonefly has a prominent presence throughout Europe and the United States as well as in a number of countries in the Far East.
At the end of 1997, Stonefly assumed the leading role in the restoration of the most prestigious industrial site in the Montebelluna area, a site that had been virtually abandoned for years but that has now been returned to its original splendor to serve as the company's main offices.
Designed in 1964 by Marco Zanuso, an architect who is one of the best known exponents of modern industrial design, the company's structure covers 6,000 m^2. It lies in a park-like setting which extends over 20 hectares (approximately 50 acres) which hosts a wide variety of trees and an imposing sculpture by Marino Marini. The company's buildings blend in perfectly with the extraordinarily beautiful landscape created by Asolo hills, a perfect example of the harmony possible between man and his environment, between industriousness and quality of life, harmony unmistakably emblematic of just how to integrate an industrial setting into its natural surroundings.
The "Stonefly" trademark, featuring blue printing on a circular background, identifies the company's key product: comfortable footwear boasting a high technological content.
In 1995, "Golden Line" was launched on the market as a trademark that relates the concept of comfort to a product aimed at a much larger public. More recently, Stonefly has acquired the prestigious "Impronte" brand, one of Italy's time-honored trademarks for casual wear. The line of products identified by Nature, interprets the notion of comfort in a more sporting vein with an appeal oriented to nature and the outdoor life.
A sizable percentage of Stonefly's total sales is invested in advertising, which is set up on two levels: on the one hand, the development of high-impact advertising campaigns aimed at the consumer; on the other hand, the development of materials and modern merchandising tools designed to assist the individual storeowner, someone with whom our company has always striven to develop a close and intense collaboration.
