Hello there!
We are the Mood Managers: Michaella, Julie, and Eugenia, a team of dedicated
CS 220 students ready to tackle modern issues through human-centered design.
We created a prototype for a mobile app called Serene.
Problem Statement:
At the beginning of the U.S spread of the COVID pandemic in mid-March, college
students were suddenly evacuated from their campuses and physically displaced. Later, protests
broke out regarding police racially-based brutality and violence, further spurring feelings of anxiety
and a lack of security in the world. Through online interviews and user analysis, we gathered that many
college students in the summer of 2020 were feeling isolated and exhibiting frequent low moods.
Our solution:
Our application would aim to help users cope with emotional turmoil by combining features of commonly
used mood-tracking apps as well as other emotional supports in order to create a single mobile
destination for feeling better.
