We wanted to create a color scheme consistent with the Wellesley Fresh website. Because users think of Wellesley Fresh (below) when they check menus, having a similar color scheme makes the app feel more familiar to the user and creates a relationship between our app and the website.
There were a few changes made between the paper prototype and the computer prototype. From our user feedback, we changed some buttons into action verbs. For example, we changed the "Custom" button on the search page into "Create Your Own" so as to be more self explanatory. We also made the "Compare All" button on the menus page more obvious.
We also made some changes for the sake of aesthetics. The "Feed Me" button on the home page of the app changed from being a circular button to a JQuery style button that was more in line with the app's theme. We also removed some of the empty white space on the homepage and replaced it with food.
The menu section (P3 Task 1) is the section of our app we chose to implement "narrow and deep." The dining halls can be viewed in a tile format when the user first selects the menu button. We tasked our users with finding a place to eat lunch, so all of the lunch menus load by default (and the breakfast and dinner menus have placeholder headings). All of the menus from the menus page are accessible, as some users prefer to look at the dining halls individually instead of comparing them simultaneously. But the "Compare All" button is still functional. In the portrait mode view it provides a list of the lunch foods being served at each dining hall. In landscape mode, the lists turn so that each dining hall can be viewed side-by-side without scrolling (assuming that the phone is iPhone 5 or later.)
There are some sections of the app that still need to be updated in order to complete all of the user tasks. For example, on the home page if the user should click on "Why?" on the popup after clicking on the "Feed Me" button, they would be eventually taken to the Priorities page under the Settings page. As of now, this "Why?" link goes only to the Settings page itself--not to the Priorities page. Another incomplete section is the "Search" page. From the "Search" page, the only option that goes further than the page itself is the "Vegetarian" page. The "Peanut Free," "Gluten Free," "Vegan," and "Create Your Own" button currently provide no feedback. Furthermore the meal displayed on the home page needs to change depending on the time (as well as display the time), and changing the automatic tab shown on the menus page.
