Overview

In previous iterations of the course, students have created several web applications that make use of Google Maps API.

In Spring 2011, all the projects made different and interesting uses of the API, with one of them being a timed, discover-the-places game.

This page has links to the projects.

In Spring 2013, only a few of projects used the Google Maps API and you'll find these examples in this page.

In Summer 2013, a group of students did an orientation game using Google Maps API (and Google App Engine), titled Wellesley Photo Hunt.

Another example of using Google Maps with Wellesley data is the Wellesley Arboretum app, which was written as a class example for Spring 2011.

Your Reflection Task

This task is for your Tumblr blog.

  1. Spend some time exploring the above apps (only the ones with Google Maps).
  2. Write one or two sentences on what you like about each of them.
  3. Imagine an app that uses Google Maps API that you would like to build and describe what features it would have and whether it will be similar or not to any of the apps you explored.
  4. Tag your Tumblr post as #reflection and publish it.
