  • 10 minutes - discuss HTTP requests to retrieve data from web services
  • 40 minutes - you work in pairs or groups to make progress with the "Searching Books" app, trying to write most of the Javascript code given that the CSS part is discussed in the AM1 Answers, Part 2
  • 15-20 minutes - discuss callback functions and JSONP

Wed, Feb 04

In class:

  • 10-15 minutes - discuss any remaining questions about the Books API app, so that it's completely clear.
  • 10 minutes - you look at the given list of APIs and brainstorm about an app that they can create using one of these APIs
  • 45-50 minutes - you start modifying the Books code to work with the new API (of course, by initially creating a copy of the working version of the Books app, in a separate file)

During Eni's drop-in hours 9:00-11:00PM

You come either alone or with your group to discuss your new app, work together and make progress.

Thu, Feb 05

During Katherine's help room hours 9:00-11:00PM

You come either alone or with your group to continue working on your app, and try to make it functional.

Fri, Feb 06

In class:

  • 30 minutes - final changes and debugging on your apps
  • 30-35 minutes - each group gives a quick 2-3 minutes demo of their app
  • 5-10 minutes - look ahead at AM2, Wellesley College on Facebook app

Sun, Feb 08 - 6:00 PM

Usually, the AM submission will be due before class on the Friday deadline. Given that the past week we missed two days, I will provide a two-day extension for submitting the completed work (according to the requirements).
