The spindle design, once Cynara figured out the gearing and timing (avoiding motor "bounce-back" reversals) remained much the same from its first working model...
(We'd toyed with the idea of having it be part of a mechanism that popped out and twisted etc., but this was the simplest and functioned well with the catch concept that we'd decided to implement...)
