Phase 1: User and Task Analysis
We sent the following questionnaire to various student organizations and friends and received the following results. We then constructed personas of students based upon this data.

The following user profiles were then created using this information:
Persona 1: Athlete
- Live in the Beebe (close to sports center)
- Runner for both cross country and track
- Majors in Psychology
- Need lots of protein
- Constantly eating
- Doesn’t mind switching locations (already active)
- Eat between lift/practice
- Too busy to care about where/what they eat
Persona 2: Science Nerd
- Majors in Physics
- Live in the science center Bates
- Typically stays on east side unless they have classes in academic quad
- Doesn’t care where/what they eat as long as it’s close to their precious science center
Persona 3: Vegan who’s allergic to everything
- Probably lives in Tower - nut-free
- Majors in Environmental Science
- Hard time choosing what to eat because it can’t have dairy, meat, or grain
- Willing to travel to different dining halls due to restrictions
Persona 4: Social Butterfly
- Lives in Stone-Davis
- Majors in Political Science
- Only eats where her friends are eating
- Willing to relocate from dorm to eat with friends
Persona 5: Foodie
- Lives in Cazenove
- Majors in Media Arts and Sciences
- Cares about eating the best possible meals
- Constantly checks to see what’s available to compare what the options are
- Will go out of her way to get a certain type of food/meal
High-Level Tasks
- Check daily/weekly dining hall menus
- Access the menu of each dining hall for each meal
- Updates every day at midnight
- Check dining hall hours
- Should be accurate
- Alerts for changes (special events, early closing hours, etc.)
- See menus of various cafes on campus (El Table, The Hoop, Collins Cafe, etc)
- Access uniform menus for each cafe
- Accurate information, updated with special items (example: sandwich specials at El Table)
- Invite friends to meals
- Copies specific meal choice and sends it in a text message or email to friends with the intention of setting up a plan to meet
- Directly search for specific food items
- If looking for a specific item, you can search to see if it will be available for that week
