Digital Representation of Color Tutorial

Create a Director application that teaches the fundamentals of digital representation of color to students at a liberal Arts college. You can assume that your audience is taking CS110 but did not have any knowledge of image representation and would like to know at least the basics terminology, such as

  • pixel, bit-depth
  • monitor resolution, image resolution
  • CMYK color, RGB color, indexed color

Do not create a powerpoint-style slide show. Using the frame navigational techcnique create a "scene" where a viewer can find explanation to the terms above with a click. You can use your own definitions or the definitions found in the lecture notes we have used in class, Getty's definitions (see relevant reading in class notes) or in Williams and Tollett's book pages 157-166. In any case, case give credit to the souce.Important: For each of the definitions, provide a sample (from a painting, website, CD-ROM, etc) that demonstrates the definition.

When done, name your file name_digicolor.dir, where name is your puma account name, and publish it. Augment the .html file so that it describes how you did it and how you applied the design principles. Put these three files inside a directory called hw5. Of course this directory should be inside your CS215 folder.

You may want to consult Anita's tutorial on color theory as a similar example.
