Welcome to the Wellesley College Human-Computer Interaction Lab!

Here at the HCI Lab we are dedicated to the innovation and investigation of next-generation human-computer interaction technology. Over the past two decades, HCI research has generated a broad range of interaction styles that move beyond the desktop into new physical and social contexts. Key areas of innovation in this respect are tangible, virtual and augmented reality, and embodied user interfaces. These interaction styles share important commonality: leveraging users' existing knowledge and skills of interaction with the real non-digital world such as naive physics, spatial, social and motor skills. Our research focuses on novel human-computer interaction for the future of work and learning. Currently, we are investigating how next-generation interaction techniques can support non-driving related tasks in highly-automated vehicles, enhance the productivity and wellbeing of knowledge workers, and foster scientific data-driven collaborative research.
